Hmong Tribal Purses

The Hmong are an ancient tribe of mountain people who migrated from China in the mid-nineteenth century. Seeking social, economic and political freedom has become the defining element of Hmong tribes; the word Hmong means “free”. These purses, with their fine embroidered needlework, are a reflection of their cultural struggles and are of great pride to Hmong women. Brightly colored fabrics create traditional clothing for celebrations including their New Year, marriages, births and other important events. Cross stitch, needle weaving and other techniques are used to create these wearable works of art involving both ancient traditions and more recent adaptations made during long years of survival in refugee camps. Many of the Hmong have relocated to the mountain regions of Laos, Thailand and Vietnam from where we have sourced these traditional items just for you…Ben

Silk from Thailand

Elegant and Unique Silk Scarves from Udonthani

I’m thrilled to introduce some truly special handmade scarves crafted by my family. Each one has a brilliance of colors due to the hand dyed process employed in the making of these fabrics. Raw silk is placed into vats of colored dye which becomes deeply infused into the wonderful shades you see. Some variances in tones are apparent between batches but we take great care to be very consistent within each scarf.

For years, have we used only hand loom processes, and in the past, have even farmed the raw silk ourselves. These scarves are manufactured in our rural farm/factory, where we employ local seamstresses in an effort to better support this agricultural region.

I hope you feel the joy of wearing and displaying these silk creations as much as I enjoy presenting them to you. Ben

BenThai Products - Bringing Thailand's Art & Culture to the World

Sawadee-ka and welcome to BenThai Products. My name is Benjamas, a Thai name which commonly refers to a “flower”. As a native of Thailand, I was raised in the north eastern area of the country in the city of Udonthani. Udon is a bustling city of 200,000 which is steeped in the traditional culture of Thailand, although still of rural roots and marketplaces. I studied in Chiang Mai University earning a Bachelor Degree in Nursing and worked for many years in the rural hospitals of this region. Although I’m no longer in the heath care industry, my passion for support of rural clinics remains a strong element of our company and a portion of each sale goes toward the ongoing support of these clinics.

BenThai Products is a provider of unique wearable and home décor items which reflect the culture of Thailand. The country is rich with native fabrics and materials which I want to introduce to non-Thai markets and in some cases, products of rural origin which are not usually found in typical Thai marketplaces. Our products include Jewelry which is handmade and unique is it composition, Silk apparel and accessories,Purses with a variety of fashion elements, and Home Décor items such as pottery and collectables.

I believe you’ll find a common theme in our offerings that reflect the culture of Thailand with colors and textures that capture your feelings and with affordability which fits your fashion budget. As the President ofBenThai Products, you have my personal commitment to your satisfaction and enjoyment in owning these select products. I have you in mind always.

From me and all of us at BenThai Products, everlasting smiles…

Benjamas
